Fresh salsas are a total game-changer.

They add big flavour and really liven up dishes. My fresh pineapple salsa is amazing with chicken, shrimp or pork-based recipes.

I love pairing it alongside my pico de gallo and guacamole for taco night!

Benefits of Pineapple

There are a lot of wonderful benefits and nutrients found in pineapple. For today’s blog, I’m going to highlight two of them: vitamin C and bromelain.

Vitamin C

  • Fights free radicals that promote disease, aging and inflammation.
  • Helps support the immune system (which plays a key role in acne).
  • Speeds up the healing of wounds (like breakouts).
  • Supports collagen synthesis (a building block for skin that keeps it firm and plump).

Bromelain

  • Group of protein-digesting enzymes (helps the body digest foods better).
  • Helps with more efficient nutrient absorption (many acne sufferers are nutrient deficient).
  • Reduces inflammation (acne = inflammation).
